Russian forest monsters

Two of my characters, Anushka and Viktor, with a classmate's character (the sick girl). We had to create 'em off random words. I got fuzzy, Russian, and abstract and used them as an excuse to draw furry monster things. Viktor's inspired by the mythical Slavic chuhaister, a forest giant (apparently they're super awful-looking but sweet to humans and help fight off evil faeries).

Anushka's wearing fur boots. She doesn't have giant tarantula feet.
I was told it looked like that, but it's boots.

Sun tea. Make it with your kids. Make it with your cat.

The Sphinx

I had to re-interpret a classic mythological theme in an erotic context. I forgot that cool cats don't wear cowboy boots over their jeans. I also forgot how to draw cowboy boots.
This is acrylic, my camera's adapter thing is on the fritz so I'll add a better photo later.

Jungle Fever

... cured with violent blows to the head.

How is it that Blogspot sucks the life and vibrancy out of an image I upload? It's really pretty awful.

The Outsiders

I did some black and white chapter-header type guys for The Outsiders. The cartoony style probably isn't super appropriate, since the story has some pretty sad parts, but I thought it'd be fun to do it like this anyway.

(Two-Bit's epic switchblade)

(For the chapter where they hate on Hank Williams)

(Ponyboy has his hair cut after he and Johnny run off)

Found an article on Cookie magazine's site about fall makeup tips.

quarter page/spot.

Just realized how small I made that kid's head. Goddamnit this is not the Rennaissance.

WoW fix.

People in charge said the poem was too hard to read 'cause of the branch,
so I fixed it. Something about that clearly segregated composition makes my
skin crawl, but it's for the children, so...

And somehow the highlight on the bluejay's beak disappeared, so now that shade of light orange is only on the girl's hairties. I spent four hours discussing, adjusting, and
repackaging it so oh well. It bothers me, but it's not important.

I wish Valentine's giftwrap was actually sexy.

(This mock-up further proves my Photoshop abilities are absolutely mindblowing.)

Making interlocking patterns is still sort of hard,
or maybe I'm just dumb.

Words on Wheels

Mine got picked, which is pretty cool. I ride the bus home
from work so maybe I'll see it sometime...

this movie will probably be horrible.

Full-page for my Lifestyle/Fashion Illustration class. All of the shirts and coats are designer items but it's not super apparent. The point was to create a piece that illustrated the mood of the film without portraying actors or specific characters. I got Jonah Hex, so I basically just tried to focus on Confederate zombies and cowboy stuff. And I threw a sassy redhead in there.

This is kind of like the way I used to draw in highschool, lots of linear detail, especially with hair. Pretty much the way I draw naturally. Probably should've gone the cartoony route.

Stop Staring dresses, small paintings.

Acrylic, tiny. The original colors ranged from lime, teal, to aqua. My scanner decided that meant blue. Tried to fix it in Photoshop but the colors aren't too off, and the blue's sort of neat against the green flames. I was inspired by a painting of two women staring each other down, by Glenn Barr. Too bad I couldn't find it online or else I'd post it here. I got one of his art books recently, trying to decide how to use paint nowadays. His work is pretty amazing and inspiring.
